OBITUARY
Gunnison, Utah – Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Don Lyman Anderson, Jr. age 79, of Gunnison, died March 14, 2007 in Provo of complications from a heart attack that he suffered on February 12.
He was born May 21, 1927 in Oak City, Utah, a son of Don Lyman and Thelma Lavern Lovell Anderson. He graduated from Delta High School, Class of 1945 and attended SUSC in Cedar City for 1 year.
He married Loraine Finlinson January 22, 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Don was a member of the LDS Church, serving as Choir Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Counselor in a Bishopric, the Scouting Program, a Teacher and Leader in various callings.
He was a member of the Wayne Riding Club and he started a local newspaper, Wayne Wonderland News, in Wayne County 35 years ago. He has lived in Gunnison for the past 33 years and was formerly from Wayne County and Millard County.
Don loved horses. He enjoyed painting, fishing, his registered Hereford and Angus cattle, whittling and carving, camping and family outings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Loraine; his 6 children: Linda and George Blackburn of Fremont; Susan and Pace Ellett of Loa; Darcy and Julia Anderson of Maryland; JoAnn and Rod Taylor of Gunnison; Darlene and Kim Robinson of Salina; Lyman and Marci Anderson of Redmond; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Nephi Anderson of Idaho; Maurine and Glen Widdison of Willard; Colleen and Ken Wilkerson of Neola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lavern Anderson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Doctors, Staff and Nurses for their loving care of our husband and father for the past four weeks.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center in Gunnison. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center in Gunnison, Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services.
Grave side services and burial will be Monday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Oak City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
